Rongoā Māori Healing with Carmel
“Rongoā is like the karanga you first hear on the marae. You will feel the call within your heart and know when it is time to begin your healing journey.” – Carmel Cochrane
My Approach
Rongoā Māori is more than healing — it is a calling. It has been carried through my whānau for generations and is the foundation of my work. This practice restores balance to the mind, body, and wairua, guided by the principles of Mauri (life force), Wairua (spirit), Tapu (sacred law), and Whakapapa (genealogy).
Through karakia, mirimiri, energy work, and rongoā rākau (herbal medicine), I help clients reconnect with themselves and release what no longer serves them.
My Practice
I have been an ACC-verified Rongoā Māori provider since 2019, before the Māori unit was established in 2020. My specialty is working with clients navigating Sensitive Claims, PTSD, depression, and anxiety.
Rongoā is deeply personal, and each session is tailored to you and your healing journey.
Modalities I Work With
Whitiwhiti Kōrero – healing kōrero to support and guide you
Mahu Wairua – clearing and lifting intergenerational trauma
Honohono – deep energy healing across all layers of being
Te Hā – breathwork from my whānau line to regulate the nervous system
Rongoā Rākau – herbal medicine for restoring balance in the tinana (body)
Waewae Mirimiri – foot mirimiri to release ancestral trauma, ease inflammation, and ground the body
Māhuna Mirimiri – head, neck, and shoulder mirimiri to calm overwhelm, ease tension, and support restful sleep
(Please note: I do not offer full-body mirimiri or romiromi, but I can recommend trusted ACC practitioners who do.)
